Keenan And Miles Homer, But ODU Loses At Towson, 6-3

TOWSON, MD--Old Dominion centerfielder Jimmy Miles and second basemanChris Keenan each hit homeruns, but the Monarchs (15-16/7-7) lost to Towson (17-16/6-7), 6-3 in game one of a three-game Colonial Athletic Association series Friday.

Miles put ODU up 1-0 with a leadoff solo shot in the first inning. The Tigers came backwith two runs on the bottom of the first as Kevin Collins homered and Brian Conleywould later score on Jason Stifler's double.

ODU tied the game with two outs in the fourth when Chris Keenan doubled and camehome on Jimmy Miles single. Greg Furmanek hit his ninthhome run of the season to put Towson up 3-2 in the bottom of the fourth.

The Tigers then scored one run in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings. The Monarchsscored their third and final run in the seventh when Chris Keenan led off with hissecond homerun of the season. With one out in the seventh, ODU loaded the basesagainst reliever Austin Hurd, but Josh Squatrito came on to get the Tigers out of theinning, and pick up his fourth save.

ODU starter Dan Hudson fanned eight in seven innings of work in a losing effortJimmy Miles and Chris Keenan both had two hits on the day for the Monarchs.Game two of the series is Saturday at 1:00 at Schuerholz Park.
