NORFOLK, VA--Brett Sellers' sacrifice fly plated Alex Foltz to give theDukes of James Madison (15-4/9-1) an 8-7 Colonial Athletic Associationvictory over Old Dominion (10-10/3-4) Friday evening.
ODU led 7-2 after six innings, but the Dukes rallied for three in the seventhas Foltz started the scoring with a solo homer with one out. Brett Sellers walked and Steven Caseres followed with a homer to make it 7-5.
In the ninth Caseres singled home Joe Lake to make it 7-6 and then JMU tied thegame when Sellers scored on a wild pitch. Caseres led the Dukes with four hitsand four runs batted in, while Sellers had three hits and two RBI.
ODU was led by Jimmy Miles who knocked in three runs along with Jake McAloosewho knocked in two, and scored twice. Anthony Shawler and McAloose each had three hits, while Max Most had two extra base hits.
ODU starter Dan Hudson got a no decision after pitching 6.2 innings with a seasonhigh 13 strikeouts. Overall, ODU pitchers fanned 17 batters in 11 innings of work.
JMU's reliever Trevor Knight came on in the ninth inning and picked up his third win of the season. After winning six straight games from March 5th to te 12, ODU has now dropped six straight. Game two of the three-game series is set for Saturday at 4 p.m.
