CHARLESTON, S.C. -- There was no position change for the 8th ranked ODU Women's sailing team on the second day of racing, as they finished 5th overall at the Charleston Women's Intersectional. Freshman Stephanie Roble and junior Alissa Ayres sailed to a second place finish in A division, just two points behind Georgetown for the division win. The team was just 24 points back of a tie for second place.
The Lady Monarchs sailed in a complete regatta, 13 races, with the A division boat sailing in three on the second day and the B division boat sailing in five. Roble and Ayres finished 3rd, 1st and 5th in the three races they sailed on Sunday. The pair tallied 57 points as they finished out of the top five boats only twice and were among the top three finishers in over half the races. The tandem came in second in A division, just two points behind Georgetown, with 55 points, for the win.
In B division, freshman Morgan Wilson sailed with sophomore Ashley Brusso to a 9th place finish in B division. The pair managed to score four top ten finishes on the second day of racing, but slipped to 9th, tallying 98 total points. They finished among the top ten boats in all but three races.
The #8 ODU Women finished with 155 total points, just six behind the fourth place Yale program and a mere 24 points behind a tie at second and third place.
