Women running races for Women.
Ali Sharp (Navy coach and SMC alum) ran the competitors meeting setting thetone for a great weekend of racing in tough conditions. PRO-ChristineAccettella(ODU) and RC Chair-Melissa Pumphrey (SMC) ran the racing in extremelydifficult conditions on the St. Mary's River.Sat: Light breezes started Northwest and went right round the dial makingmark moving almost fruitless.The crew did an outstanding job while jury chair Barbara Herbig watchedattentively.Sun: Breeze started North and quickly backed to the Northwest whereeventually it built and allowed a full rotation to be completed.After the final race was completed, breeze was holding steady at 15-18knots.
VERY CLOSE competition came down to the wire. Top three teams were givenembroidered gear courtesy of Team One Newportwho wanted to show their support of college sailing, and in particularwomen¹s college sailing.
Courses were W-4's and 3's with gates.
