NORFOLK, VA--Junior righthander Dan Hudson pitched six innings, fanningseven, while Chris Buss knocked in three runs and Jimmy Miles had three hits to lead Old Dominion (3-2) to a 12-3 victory over Temple (1-3) Friday. The Monarchs pounded out 12 hits on the day.
Miles was one hit short of the cycle as he tripled in the first, singled in the second,doubled in the fourth, and walked in the sixth.
ODU jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning as Miles scored from third on awild pitch, Bryan Cipolla singled home Chris Keenan and Jake McAloose' sacrificefly plated Cipolla.
Temple cut it to one at 3-2 in the top of the third inning when shortstop Mark Ortega hit a two-run homer in the third with Carmen Del Mastro aboard.
Miles then doubled home Jake McAloose in the fourth and Edgar Hernandez scoredon a sacrifice fly by Chris Keenan. In the fifth McAloose singled home Anthony Shawler and he later scored on a single by Hernandez.
Sophomore shortstop Chris Buss tripled in two runs I the sixth and singled in hisgame high third RBI in the eighth.
David Burns, Jake McAloose, Chris Buss, and Edgar Hernandez each had two hitson the day. Sophomore lefthander Cory Toth pitched the last three innings, allowingone unearned run, and picked up the save.
The two teams play again Saturday with the first pitch scheduled for 1 p.m.
