Norfolk, Va. - The Old Dominion University women's tennis team improved to 3-0 on the season after defeating visiting Howard University 7-0 Sunday night at the Folkes-Stevens Indoor Tennis Center.
The Lady Monarchs make short work of the Lady Bison to win the doubles point as ODU captured an 8-0 victory at No. 1 doubles, an 8-1 win at No. 2 doubles and an 8-3 decision at No. 3.
In singles play the Lady Monarchs earned five straight set victories, including 6-0, 6-0 victories by Nadine Fahoum at No. 4 and Jana Kubicikova at No. 6. At the No. 2 singles position Barbara Costa dropped the first set 4-6, but rebounded to win the final two frames 6-2, 6-1 over Howard's Jasmin Smith.
ODU returns to action this Friday, Feb. 1 when the Lady Monarchs will host CAA foe James Madison at 6 p.m.
