ABOUT THE LADY MONARCHS:The No. 13/18 Lady Monarchs are winners in their last eight contests and in eleven of their last twelve games and are about to embark on the second game of a three-game road swing at Northeastern on Thursday night. Old Dominion is coming off an 63-55 thriller against William & Mary that saw senior Megan Pym capture a career-high 14 points and junior Tiffany Green icing free throws for the second straight season at Kaplan Arena to help lead the Lady Monarchs to victory. Senior T.J. Jordan, despite scoring only one points in the last two Lady Monarch outings, continues to lead the squad at 14.4 points per game, followed by sophomore Jessica Canady at 10.2 points per contest. Green rounds out the double figure averaging Lady Monarchs at 10.2 points per game along with 7.1 rebounds per game to rank second on the squad. Pym continues leads the Lady Monarchs on the battle of the boards at 7.2 rebounds per game.
ABOUT NORTHEASTERN:The Huskies are 5-10 overall and 0-5 in the CAA and have dropped their last six straight games. Northeastern's last victory was a 82-69 affair at home against Stony Brook back on December 22. Following that game, the Huskies fell to Boston College, 78-73, in their final non-conference contest and fell in their first five league contests. Northeastern is led by senior guard Shaleyse Smallwood at 11.0 points per game. Sophomore forward Kendra Walton checks in as the Huskies' second leading scorer at 10.4 points per game along with a team-leading 6.0 rebounds per contest. Junior guard Ashlee Feldman rounds out the Northeastern players in double figures at 10.3 points per game.

SERIES WITH NORTHEASTERN:Old Dominion leads the all-time series 2-0. This will be just the second trip to Solomon Court in Boston for the Lady Monarchs. Last year, Old Dominion picked up an 89-75 victory behind T.J. Jordan's career night from three-point land.
LAST TIME VS. NORTHEASTERN:T.J. Jordan exploded for a career-high 34 points and set new records for three-pointers made and attempted in a game as the Old Dominion women's basketball team defeated Northeastern, 89-75, in its first ever appearance at Solomon Court back on February 8, 2007. Jordan went 10-of-22 from downtown replacing Aubrey Eblin's former record of 9-of-16 against UNC-Wilmington on Feb. 17, 1998. The 89 points scored by Old Dominion were the most netted last season by the team. Jordan was one of three Lady Monarchs in double figures. Joining Jordan were Tiffany Green with 15 and Shahida Williams with 11. Green and Sherida Triggs grabbed a team-high seven boards as the Lady Monarch outrebounded the Huskies 49-24. Northeastern was led by Shaleyse Smallwood with 21 points and 11 assists. She was one of four in double figures for the Huskies. Lucia Pablos poured in 17 points, followed by Ashlee Feldmen with 16, and Stefanie Hodell with 12. The first half endured seven ties before Jessica Canady gave the lead to the Lady Monarchs for good by hitting two free throws at the 4:42 mark. Old Dominion held a 41-38 advantage at the half. Northeastern was able to get as close as two in the second half, but after a Pablos jumper at the 17:53 mark brought the score to 46-44, Old Dominion proceeded to outscore the Huskies, 25-7, to take a 20-point lead. The Lady Monarchs would go on to lead by as many as 22.
UNDEFEATED - AT HOME:Old Dominion is currently 7-0 at home and finished non-conference play at 5-0 at the Ted Constant Convocation Center.
HOME COURT STREAK:The Lady Monarchs have won 18 straight home contests dating back to the Dec. 20, 2006, 72-55, victory over national runner-up Rutgers. ODU's last loss at the Ted Constant Convocation Center was against national champion Tennessee, 59-75, back on Dec. 22, 2006.
CAA HOME COURT STREAK: The Lady Monarchs have won 28 straight home CAA contests dating back to the January 14, 2005, 78-59, victory over Virginia Commonwealth. ODU's last conference loss at the Ted Constant Convocation Center was against Delaware, 70-73, on January 9, 2005. Old Dominion holds a 153-2 home CAA mark.
DEJA FREE THROW:For two straight years, Old Dominion has escaped Williamsburg with a win over William & Mary thanks to free throws from junior Tiffany Green. Green was at the line with 1:11 remaining against the Tribe, putting the Lady Monarch junior in a similar circumstance to last year. In 2007, Green, who at times struggles from the charity stripe, iced two free throws to seal last year's victory. This year, Green once again went to the line, with Old Dominion clinging to a one-point lead, and nailed both her free throw attempts and followed up with a lay-up after the Tribe missed a three-pointer in an attempt to tie the score to seal the game.
I GET BY WITH A LITTLE HELP FROM MY FRIENDS:Leading scorer T.J. Jordan was held to one points, stemming from a free throw, in the Lady Monarchs' 86-66 victory over Virginia Commonwealth. However despite the Lady Monarchs' leading scorer having an off-night, six different Lady Monarchs scored in double figures to help lead ODU to victory. The bench was also a tremendous help as well as they outscored the Ram bench 37-15.
IT'S NOT THE SIZE OF THE DOG IN THE FIGHT; IT'S THE SIZE OF THE FIGHT IN THE DOG:Just because junior Jazzmin Walters is 5-2, doesn't mean she can't hang with the tall girls. While nine members of the Vanderbilt women's basketball team are 5-11 or taller, it was five-foot-two Jazzmin Walter's who was the game's leading rebounder in ODU's match-up with the then No. 21/20 Commodores. Walters hauled in a career-high seven boards as Old Dominion outrebounded Vanderbilt, 40-29. Walters repeated her career rebounding performance against Virginia Commonwealth on January 17th, which included six defensive rebounds against a squad that had eight members at 5-10 or taller.
PASSING A LEGEND:Senior T.J. Jordan has moved up three spots on the ODU all-time scoring list since the beginning of the season. With her game-high 18 points against James Madison in the first meeting with the Dukes, she surpassed a Lady Monarch legend. Jordan surpassed current WNBA Sacramento Monarch Ticha Penicherio for 19th on the all-time list. Jordan currently has 1,310 career points.
COUNT TO TEN:With a 79-59 victory over Georgia State to open up the CAA portion of its schedule on January 6th, the Lady Monarchs collected their 10th win of the season. It was the fastest Old Dominion has collected 10 wins since the 1997-98 team accomplished the feat on January 4th.
UP NEXT:Old Dominion closes out its three-game road trip when the Lady Monarchs makes their way to Newark, Delaware and the Bob Carpenter Center, site of the 2008 CAA Women's Basketball Tournament, to take on the Delaware Fightin' Blue Hens on Sunday, January 27th.
