VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -- Second-seeded James Madison captured the golden goal two minutes into overtime to defeat the top-seeded Old Dominion field hockey team, 1-0, at the 2007 Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Tournament championship game Sunday at the National Training Center.

James Madison's Lauren Walls brought the ball from the top right side of the circle near the right post of the Old Dominion cage. Walls fired the ball past the front of the Lady Monarch goal where it landed in the far left hand corner to give the Dukes its second straight CAA title over Old Dominion.

The Dukes capture the CAA automatic bid to the 2007 NCAA Tournament, which begins next weekend. Old Dominion will have to wait for the selection show on Tuesday, November 6th, to see if it will be one of the schools granted with an at-large bid. The Lady Monarchs have made appearances in all previous 26 tournaments, having won nine national titles. The selection show will be broadcast by CSTV.

James Madison outshot the Lady Monarchs 12-8, while Old Dominion outcornered the Dukes, 8-4.

Junior Kelly Driscoll (West Chester, Pa.), who was named to the All-Tournament Team, made eight stops, while classmate Katelyn Smither (Suffolk, Va.) also recorded a defensive save. CAA Player of the Year Kelsey Cutchins made three stops in the cage for James Madison.

Joining Driscoll on the CAA All-Tournament team were sophomore Titia Beek (Heiloo, Holland) and sophomore Kathleen Shea (Elizaville, N.Y.).
