THROGGS NECK, N.Y. -- ODU slipped to 7th place overall at the War Memorial Regatta, with an 8th place effort in A division and a 7th place effort in B division. Senior skipper Bobby Noonan sailed in all 14 races with junior Alissa Ayres in A division. In B division, Michael Brown sailed with Jaclyn Finney and Michael Komar to 7th place and never finished out of the top ten boats.
Mikey Brown, a junior skipper, sailed all 14 races in B division, tallying 89 points. He, Finney and Komar combined in the regatta and finished no worse than ninth in the 14 completed races. The 89 total points was just four points out of the top five and just 14 points behind second place.
In A division, Noonan and Ayres finished with 111 total points. The tandem was just 13 points out of the top five boats and finished with one win and six top five finishes in the regatta.
ODU's combined total of 200 points for the regatta was good for 7th place overall. The team was just 14 points back of the host team, NY Maritime, for a spot in the top five. St. Mary's College won the event.
