COLLEGE PARK, MD.-- Drew Yates first half goal lifted 16th rankedMaryland (3-2) to a 1-0 victory over the Monarchs of Old Dominion (2-4-1) WednesdayNight.
Drew Yates headed in a pass from Graham Zusi, at the 31:34 mark into the first half for the game winner. ODU did not have a shot in the first half, but closed the gap in the second as Maryland out shot theMonarchs, 8-5 on the night. Jason Loizou (Va.Beach, VA.) had two shots for ODU and one shot on goal. Steffen Sommerstad (Norway) and Ambane Emmanuel (Cameroon) each has a shot on goal.
The Terps are the fourth nationally ranked team the Monarchs have played this year which included No. 1 Wake Forest, along with North Carolina and Ohio State.
ODU returns to action on Sept. 29 when they host the Spiders of the University ofRichmond.
