Aug. 26, 2007

NORFOLK, Va. -- It was the weather that won in Sunday's field hockey contest featuring No. 6 Old Dominion against Miami (Ohio) at Foreman Field. The game was called off following a four-hour lightening delay with the Redhawks leading the Lady Monarchs 1-0 with 19:33 remaining in the second half.

Since the game was not play in its entirety, it will not count for either team. The Lady Monarchs and Redhawks will attempt to reschedule the game at a later date. Stay tuned to www.odusports for more information as it is available.

Miami (Ohio) took its 1-0 lead 15 minutes into the game off the option on a penalty corner. Alyssa Nye inserted the ball to Danielle Gaynor on the left side of the circle, who passed the ball back to Nye. Nye tipped the ball in while waiting at the left side of the ODU cage.

Old Dominion was outshooting the Redhawks, 14-4, and held an 8-2 advantage in penalty corners.
