PORTSMOUTH, VA--Jon Hurst (ODU'91) and rising sophomore Eric Onesi (Bear, DE.) finished in the top 15 of the 51st annual Eastern Amateur which was played at the Elizabeth Manor Golf and Country Club.
Hurst, who now lives in Fredericksbrug, VA., won the event in 1990 had the final days best round, a 7-under 63 and finished four shots back of the champion at 269. Hurst is ODU's only Division I All-American in golf and was inducted into the ODU Sports Hall of Fame in 1996.
Onesi, the 2007 CAA Rookie of the Year finished with a 275 to tie for 12th. Newcomer Seth Norman (Virginia Beach, VA.) finished at 277, rising senior Stan Guerrero (Mexico) finished at 278, and rising junior Matthew Watson (Chesapeake, VA. ), at 281.
