PORTSMOUTH, VA--Six current members of the 2007 CAA Championship Old Dominion University men's golf team are participating in the Eastern Amateur this weekend at the Elizabeth ManorGolf Course.

Monarchs Eric Onesi (Bear, DE.), Matt Watson(Chesapeake, VA.), Stan Guerrero (Tijuana, Mexico), Jeff Long (Centreville, VA.), John Murphy (Wilton, CT.) and newcomer Seth Norman (Virginia Beach, VA.).

Also playing is former Monarch golf great Jon Hurst ('91) who won this eventin 1990. Hurst, a member of the ODU Sports Hall of Fame earned All-American honorsin 1991 as he took sixth at the NCAA Regionals and then advanced to the NCAA National Championships.

This year's Monarch golf squad featured no seniors as they captured the CAA golf title and advanced to the NCAA East Regionals. Onesi was the CAA Rookie of the Year , while fellow freshman John Murphy was the CAA Tournament MVP and individual champion. Stan Guerrero, a first team All-CAA selection was the CAA'sScholar Athlete of the Year. Watson tied for ninth at the CAA Championships and Jeff Long tied for fourth at Duke's tournament.
