NORFOLK,VA-- Hamchetou Maiga-Ba ('02) currentlyranks fifth in the WNBA in free throw percentage(.884), 11th in assists (3.0), while Ticha Penicheiro ('98) is fifth in the WNBA in assists at 4.2.through the July 12 all-star break.
Maiga-Ba, now with the Houston Comets is averaging 9.7 points per game,4.2 rebounds, 3.0 assists per game. She ranks 11th in the WNBA in fieldgoal percentage at .465. Houston is currently sixth in the WesternConference at 7-12. She has scored 18 points twice and has grabbedsix or more rebounds five times.
Anne Donovan ('83) has the Seattle Storm in fourth with an 11-9record.
Ticha Penicheiro is currently averaging 5.0 points, 2.4 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game. Earlier this year she scored a season high 14 pointswith ten assists against Houston.Her Sacramento Monarchs are 12-7 and in second place in the Western Conference.
Both Donovan and Penicheiro are members of the ODU Sports Hall of Fame.Donovan is the USA Women's National Head Coach as well. Donovan is ODU'sall-time scorer with 2,719 career points and all-time rebounder with 1,976. Penicheiro is ODU's all-time steals leader with 591 and secondall-time assists leader with 939. Maiga complete her career with 1,483career points to rank 14th all-time at ODU.
