FAIRFAX, VA--Old Dominion (28-19/15-8) pounded out 14 hits along with tenWalks from George Mason (26-22/14-11) pitchers to get a split in today's doubleheader.ODU wins 13-6 after losing the seven inning opener, 2-0.
Tyler Belcher led ODU with four runs thanks to his grand slam in the third inning. DavidBurns knocked in three runs and Cameron Scott knocked in two. Chris Keenan led ODU with four hits on the day while Nick Erdman and Tyler Belcher each had three hits.
Ryan Bergh picked up his fourth win of the season and Hunter Hall pitched the last3.2 innings to earn his second save.
In game one, Scott Krieger slammed his CAA leading 19th homer to help Mason win,2-0. Dan Jaycox with relief help from Jordan Flasher held ODU to just three hits.Jaycox and ODU's Anthony Shawler battled for five-plus innings in a scoreless pitching duel. In the bottom of the sixth Spencer Wiggins singled, then with oneout Krieger hit his homer to rightcenter field.
Shawler (9-1) pitched six innings, with nine strikeouts, no walks whileJaycox fanned eight with just two walks and one hit.with one out ODU loaded the bases in the top of the seventh, as David Burnssingled, then Anthony Shawler's fly ball was caught against the fence for thesecond out. Nick Erdman singled and Tyler Belcher reached on an error, butbut Flasher got out of the jam for his CAA leading 14th save. This is thefirst CAA series of the year, ODU has lost and are now tied with VCUfor first place.
ODU returns to action Wednesday night when they play at crosstown rivalNorfolk State at 6 p.m.
