Monarchs Return To Action With CAA Series At George Mason

NORFOLK, VA-- The ODU Baseball Monarchs (27-17/14-6) return to action with a three-game CAAseries in Fairfax, VA. against George Mason (24-21/12-10). Game one is Friday at 3 p.m. at Raymond Spuhler Field.

The Patriots are second in the CAA in homeruns with 55 and hitting at .324. Jason Bour is hitting .389 with 11 homers and 41 RBI. Scott Krieger leads the CAA in homers with 18 and has 63 RBI, while Justin Bourhas 13 homers with 46 RBI and Chris Fournier has 11 homers and 39 RBI.

Mason plans to throw J.J. Pannell (6-2/5.40 ERA) on Friday and DanJaycox (1-2/ 5.06 ERA) on Saturday.

The Monarchs have been off since the Delaware series back on April 23rd.ODU leads the CAA in team ERA at 3.98 and strikeouts with 363 in 392innings. Mike Zahm ranks seventh in the league in hitting at .394. Healong with JMU's Kellen Kulbacki and W&M's Greg Sexton are among 50 players on the watch list for the DICK HOWSER TROPHY, which is awardedto the top player in collegiate baseball.

Zahm ranks in the top ten of the CAA in runs scored (47), hits (69),Triples (5), RBI(52), doubles (19) and on base percentage (.479).

On the mound, Anthony Shawler leads the CAA with nine wins, whileDan Hudson is third with seven. Shawler leads the CAA with 98 strikeouts (10.5 per game), while Hudson is second with 85 (9.7 per game). Shawlerhas the lowest ERA in the CAA at 2.48, while Hudson is third at 2.75.

ODU leads the series with Mason, 32-30.
