RICHMOND, VA--Senior outfielder Mike Zahm knocked in six runs and sophomore righthander Dan Hudson scattered four hits for his sixth win of the season tolead Old Dominion (22-13/10-3) to a 9-3 victory over Virginia Commonwealth (18-12/4-5) at the Diamond Friday night.
Zahm had four hits in five at bats. He doubled home Chris Keenan in the first, Singled home Gerard Hall in the second and singed in Nick Erdman in the fourth. Zahmcapped the night off with a three-run homer in the eighth, plating Hall and Keenan. Keenan had two hits on the night as well. Zahm upped his batting average to .429 and team leading RBI total to 49.
Dan Hudson pitched seven-plus innings, walking five and striking out eight. CoryToth and Ross Fetterly finished up for the Monarch win.
VCU scored two runs in the fifth as Jared Bolden singled in Matt Leskiw and Kwan Evans. In the eighth, Bolden scored on Chris Jackson's single. The two teams playagain Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Diamond.
