NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- The second-seeded Virginia Commonwealth Rams topped No. 3 Old Dominion, 4-0, to in the semifinals of the 2007 Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Women's Tennis Championships.
The Rams earned the doubles point after Marianna Yuferova and Olga Borisova topped Old Dominion's Charleen Haarhoff and Fernanda Luiz, 8-4, at number one. VCU's Tatsiana Uvarova and Vera Petrashevitch then beat the Lady Monarchs' Larissa Santos and Jana Kubickova at number two, 8-2. The Rams' Tatsiana Uvarova took down Old Dominion's Haarhoff, 6-2, 6-0 for a singles win at number one. Borisova notched another singles point for VCU with a 6-1, 6-0 win over the Lady Monarchs' Santos at number three. Viktoria Konstantinova then ended the match with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Kubickova at number four.
