NORFOLK, VA-- The CAA leading ODU Baseball Monarchs (25-16/12-5) play host to the University of Delaware(14-16/7-7) in a three-game CAA series. The firstgame is 7 p.m. Friday night. The Fightin' Blue Hens have won seven straight games.
Mike Zahm leads the CAA with 52 RBI and 18 doubles. He is hitting.407 with four homers. Designated hitter David Burns is at .346 withseven homers and 50 RBI.
On the mound, Anthony Shawler is 8-0 with a 2.78 ERA along with 86strikeouts in 74.1 innings. Shawler is hitting .317 with four homersand 26 RBI. Dan Hudson is 6-3 with a 2.78 ERA, while Ross Fetterlyhas four saves with a 3.68 ERA.
Delaware is led by CAA Co-Player of the Week, Bryan Hagerich with a.375 batting average, 13 homers and 36 RBI. Alex Buchholz leads theteam with a .396 batting average with 17 doubles and 332 RBI.
On the mound CAA Pitcher of the Week David Slovak has a 3.18 ERA withfive saves. Delaware plans to throw Billy Harris (3-1/4.35 ERA), Brent Gaphardt(2-1/2.35 ERA) and Chad Kerfoot(1-2/3.55 ERA).
Delaware leads the series, 7-2. Last year, the Blue Hens defeated ODUin two of three games in Newark.
Sunday's game is youth day. All kids under 17 who come to the game wearing their youth league uniform will be admitted free.
