Monarchs Travel To ECU Wednesday Night

NORFOLK, VA-- Old Dominion (25-15) travels to Greenville, NC. to playEast Carolina (24-12) Wednesday night at 7 p.m. at Clark-LeClair Stadium.

Senior outfielder Mike Zahm leads ODU in hitting at .409 and rankssixth in the CAA. He leads the CAA in RBI with 51 and doubles with 18.Designated hitter David Burns is second in RBI with 50, while secondbaseman Chris Keenan is second in the CAA in runs scored with 49and catcher Tyler Belcher ranks third in the CAA in doubles with 16.

Anthony Shawler is fourth in the CAA in ERA at 2.78 and leads the leaguewith an 8-0 record along with 86 strikeouts in 74.1 innings of work.Dan Hudson ranks fifth in the CAA in ERA with a 2.97 mark. He is 6-3 overall.

This is the first meeting between ODU and ECU since the 2002 season.The two teams split those two games, ODU winning in Greenville, 9-6behind the pitching of Justin Verlander, and ECU won at the Bud, 9-5.ECU and ODU also met in the 1999 CAA Championship in Kinston, NC. ThePirates are now members of Conference USA.

ECU is led in hitting by Dale Molllenhauer at .352, while Ryan Tousleyhas eight homers with 37 RBI. The Pirates are scheduled to throw JoshDowdy (1-1 with a 2.48 ERA). ODU is scheduled to counter withDexter Carter (1-4 with a 4.63 ERA). Carter pitched ODU over Marylandlast week, 4-2 when he fanned a career high 12 batters.

ODU returns to CAA play this weekend, hosting Delaware (13-16/7-7).
