Northeastern Defeats Monarchs, 11-7

BOSTON, MA -- The Northeastern Huskies (9-8/5-6) defeated theMonarchs of Old Dominion (21-13/9-3), 11-7 Sunday afternoon behind the relief pitching of Trevor Smith. The loss ends ODU's seven-game CAA winning streak.

ODU scored four runs in the second to take a 4-3 lead thanks to Cameron Scott's solo homer and an RBI hit by Mike Zahm. Gerard Hall had an RBI hit in the third and Anthony Shawler tripled home a run in the fourth to make it 6-3.

Northeastern came back with four runs in the fourth thanks to two runs scoring on wild pitches and an RBI hits from Mike Lyon and Frank Compagnone.

Dan Milano hit a two-run homer in the fifth and in the seventh Anthony DiCesare tripled home two runs.

Reliever and winning pitcher Trevor Smith came on an held the Moanrchs to just one run, fanning six in six innings of work.

In the ninth ODU scored when David Burns singled home Jake McAloose.

Gerard Hall and Cameron Scott led ODU with three hits each.

ODU returns to action on Tuesday night when the play the Norfolk Tides (Baltimore Orioles AAA Affiliate) at 7:15 pm in Harbor Park in the annual Bank of the Commonwealth ODU Baseball Scholarship game.
