CORPUS CHRISTI, TX. -- The No. 36 men's tennis team for Old Dominion improved to 10-4 as it won back-to-back matches against the No. 50 Western Michigan team. First, on Saturday, the Monarchs defeated the Broncos 4-2 behind four straight set victories in singles. Old Dominion then repeated the effort against the same team in a 4-3 win Monday. Alex Seleznev only relinquished three games in four sets to sweep the No. 3 singles on both days.
In the first match, ODU got wins in the No. 2, No. 3, No. 4, and NO. 5 singles in straight sets. Seleznev led the way with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Alex Birchmeier. No. 33 Henrique Cancado also won 6-1, 6-0 in No. 2 singles over Brady Crosby.
On Monday, Cancado defeated Crosby again, 6-2, 6-2 as well as teaming up with Herel Srugo in an 8-2 doubles victory. Seleznev finished off Kevin Hayward for a 6-1, 6-1 singles win while teaming up with Eidy Igarashi in No. 2 doubles for an 8-4 win.
