CORPUS CHRISTI, TX. -- The No. 36 Old Dominion men's tennis team split a pair of matches at the H.E.B. National Team Tournament over the weekend. The Monarchs recorded a 4-2 win over No. 54 Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, but fell 4-1 to No. 32 South Alabama. The Monarchs now stand at 8-4 on the season.
Against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, the Monarchs swept throught the doubles points and earned wins at No. 2, No. 3 , No. 4, and No. 5 singles. No. 33 Henrique Cancado (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) and Eigy Igarashi (São José do Rio Preto, Brazil) both won in straight sets in their respective matches.
Old Dominion's lone point against South Alabama came from No. 8 Harel Srugo (Kibutz Gazit, Israel) at No. 1 singles. Srugo picked up a straight set, 6-3, 6-4 victory over Dias Doskaragen for the lone Monarch win.
