VA. BEACH, Va. -- The Old Dominion women's tennis team kicked off action at the Hampton Roads Collegiate Round-Up at Owl Creek on Friday with a 6-1 victory over UMass.
The win improves the Lady Monarchs to 12-3 overall as they have won six of their last seven matches.
The Lady Monarchs swept through the doubles point and captured five of the six singles matches.
Old Dominion came from behind in two of the matches as No. 1 singles Charleen Haarhoff and No. 4 singles Jana Kubickova rallied to win their final two sets of their respective matches.
Also highlighting singles action was Barbara Costa's straight set No. 5 singles victory over Stephanie Gimenez.
The Lady Monarchs continue play at the Hampton Roads Collegiate Round-Up taking on Queens and Drexel on Saturday, March 31st, and Hofstra on April 1st. All matches will take place at Owl Creek in Virginia Beach.
