RICHMOND, VA-- Junior righthander Ryan Bergh (Reddick, FL.) has beennamed Pitcher of the Week by the Colonial Athletic Association.
Bergh tossed 7.2 shutout innings to lead the Monarchs to a 1-0victory over defending CAA Champion UNC Wilmington and completethe three-game series sweep. Sophomore Ross Fetterly picked up thesave, closing out the last inning-plus.
Bergh allowed just five hits and struck out three as UNCW was shutoutfor the first time this year. Bergh improved his record to 3-4 with a3.94 earned run average.
Anthony Shawler is 6-0 with a 2.92 ERA, while Dan Hudson is 4-2 with a3.10 ERA. Mike Zahm leads ODU with a .419 batting average and is secondto David Burns in RBI with 37. Burns has 38 RBI and a team leading sixhomers. Freshman thirdbaseman Jake McAloose is hitting .381.
The Monarchs host Richmond Tuesday night at 7 p.m. at the Bud MethenyBaseball Complex.
