GREENVILLE, SC-- Old Dominion Univeristy sophomore Matthew Watson shot a 71 today and is tied for eighth after one round in the FurmanIntercollegiate. As a team, ODU is fifth, just six shots behind leader Elon. Earlier today, Junior golfer Stan Guerrero was named CAA Player of the Week.
Andre Thorson of East Carolina leads the event with a 68, just threeshots ahead of Watson. Freshman John Murphy shot a 73 and is tied for23rd and only five strokes back.
Guerrero was honored for the week ending March 11. He tied for fifthoverall at the 16-team Mission Inn Collegiate. He posted a 54-holescore of 215 to finish just three shots back of the individual champion.ODU placed fifth as a team.
