NORFOLK, VA-- The ODU Monarchs (16-10) host 30thranked VMI (16-4) Wednesday night at the Bud Metheny Baseball Complex. Game time is 6 p.m.ODU's sophomore pitcher/firstbaseman Anthony Shawler was named CAA Player of the Week. This is his third league honor thisyear. He has twice been named CAA Pitcher of the Week.
Shawler batted .615 (8-13) with three doubles, two homers, six runs scoredand six RBI in ODU's four games last week. In two games against CAArival Hofstra, the sophomore was 7-for-8 with a pair of doubles, a pairof homers, five runs scored and six RBI. He also started game two of theseries with the Pride and allowed three runs over seven innings whilefanning nine to improve to 5-0 this season.
Senior Mike Zahm ranks fourth in the CAA in hitting wth a .431 battingaverage, while Shawler ranks third in the CAA with a 2.91 ERA. Dan Hudsonis fifth in the CAA with a 3.27 ERA.
ODU is scheduled to start Dexter Carter Wednesday night against the Keydets who beat Florida two out of three games and split with Auburnearlier this year.
