RADIO: For the 16th-straight season ESPN Radio (1310 am - Norfolk, Va.) will be broadcasting all the Lady Monarch contests. Thirteen-time sportscaster of the Year Tony Mercurio will call all the action. Former Lady Monarch and ODU Hall of Fame inductee, Adrienne Goodson and former assistant coach Susan Montgomery will join Mercurio and add color commentary at all home games at the Ted Constant Convocation Center. A monthly fee of $6.95 through the College Pass program, which also provides the audio and video broadcasts of over 100 colleges and universities, will allow fans to listen to the broadcast online at www.odusports.com.
ABOUT OLD DOMINION: The Old Dominion women's basketball team has won eight straight heading into its final regular season game. The Lady Monarchs will take on UNC-Wilmington in their regular season finale and ironically it will be the first time ODU will be facing the Seahawks this season. Old Dominion is coming off an 80-70 victory at Georgia State which gave ODU the CAA regular season title for the 13th time in history. The Lady Monarchs had moved into first place in the CAA for the first time this season on last Sunday with an 62-57 win over No. 22/25 James Madison at the Constant Center. Junior guard T.J. Jordan currently leads the Lady Monarchs in scoring averaging 14.7 points per game, ranking 10th in the CAA in the category. She also is third in the country in three-point field goals made averaging 3.1 per game. Green leads ODU's rebounding corps with 6.4 per game. She is 19th in the conference. Old Dominion will open CAA Tournament action on Friday at noon taking on the winner of No. 8 Georgia State/No. 9 Drexel in the quarterfinals.
ABOUT UNC-WILMINGTON: The Seahawks of UNC-Wilmington enter Saturday's contest with a 7-21 overall and 3-14 Colonial Athletic Associaton mark. UNC-Wilmington will be the 10th seed at the upcoming CAA Women's Basketball Tournament and will meet No. 7 Towson a first round match-upThe Seahawks have dropped their last eight straight contests including Thursday's 50-79 loss to Hofstra. UNC-Wilmington is led by senior guard Lori Drake who is averaging 14.1 points and a team-leading 8.3 rebounds. She is 12th in the league in scoring and 18th in rebounding. Sophomore guard/forward Sasha Taylor is second on the stat sheet pouring in 12.3 points and 6.3 rebounds per game.
SERIES WITH UNC-WILMINGTON: The UNC-Wilmington Seahawks are winless against the Lady Monarchs with Old Dominion owning a 33-0 all-time record. The two teams became rivals when the Lady Monarchs joined the CAA back in the 1991-92 season and outside of the regular season have faced each other five times during the CAA Tournament. Several games in recent memory have been close affairs with the Lady Monarchs escaping Trask Coliseum in 2003 with a 51-48 overtime victory and edging out the Seahawks at Trask, 59-55, in 2005. Saturday will be the first and only regular season meeting between these two teams
LAST TIME VS. UNC-WILMINGTON: The Old Dominion women's basketball cruised to its 13th straight win with a 78-51 win over UNC-Wilmington on February 17th at the Ted Constant Convocation Center.T.J. Jordan poured in 19 points shooting 5-of-7 from three-point range. Tish Lyons registered 11 points. Shantel Wilson led the rebounding department with seven. Both Wilson and former Lady Monarchs Lawona Davis each tied their career-high with seven assists. For UNC-Wilmington, leading scorer Sahsha Taylor was the lone Seahawk in double figures with 11. She also hauled in a team-high six boards. Old Dominion led from beginning to end starting the game off with a 7-0 run. Alex Stewart, a product from nearby Chesapeake and Great Bridge High School, and leading scorer Sahsha Taylor followed by putting in back-to-back buckets to cut the UNC-Wilmington deficit to three, but that would be the closest the Seahawks would get all night. With 9:10 remaining in the first half, Shahida William added in the first of her nine points to put Old Dominion, 19-8, as the Lady Monarchs opened up a double figure lead for the rest of the night. At half, the Lady Monarchs were holding a 36-21 edge. It was more of the same in the second half. A Paula Muxiri fast break lay-up with 11:41 saw the Lady Monarch extend their lead to over 20 points with a 50-29 advantage. Old Dominion held as much as a 30-point lead in the closing minutes of the game. The Seahawks almost became the fifth straight team to be held to 50 points or under by the Lady Monarchs. However, Stephanie Fernald hit a three-pointer with 25 seconds remaining, UNC-Wilmington's lone points from downtown, to give the Seahawks 51 points for the night.

CLINCHING: The Old Dominion women's basketball claimed the CAA regular season title and the top seed at the upcoming CAA Women's Basketball Tournament with a 80-70 victory on Thursday night at GSU Arena. It is the 13th regular season title for the Lady Monarchs since joining the league 16 years ago in the 1991-92 season.
20 WINS: Old Dominion improved to 20-8 overall and 16-1 in the CAA in their eighth straight win since their lone CAA setback to James Madison with its win over Georgia State Thursday. It is the 27th 20-win season for the Lady Monarchs including the last 16 consecutive seasons.
