Virginia Tech scored four unearned runs in the first two innings.The Monarchs first run came on Chris Keenan's (Chesapeake, Va.) sacrificefly which plated Anthony Shawler (Chesapeake, VA.).

Mike Zahm (Omaha, NE) led the Monarchs with three hits whileFreshman Gerard Hall (Washington, DC.) had two hits. The MonarchsHad ten hits on the day, but left eight on base.
Sophomore righthander Dan Hudson (Virginia Beach, Va.) tookThe loss, giving up seven runs (only three earned). Greg Fryman withRelief help from Rhett Ballard picked up the win for the Hokies.
