RADIO: For the 16th-straight season ESPN Radio (1310 am - Norfolk, Va.) will be broadcasting all the Lady Monarch contests. Thirteen-time sportscaster of the Year Tony Mercurio will call all the action. Former Lady Monarch and ODU Hall of Fame inductee, Adrienne Goodson and former assistant coach Susan Montgomery will join Mercurio and add color commentary at all home games at the Ted Constant Convocation Center. A monthly fee of $6.95 through the College Pass program, which also provides the audio and video broadcasts of over 100 colleges and universities, will allow fans to listen to the broadcast online at www.odusports.com.
ABOUT OLD DOMINION: The Old Dominion women's basketball team dropped its first conference game of the year at James Madison and rebounded with a win at Hofstra to sweep the season series last week. In the 50-79 loss at No. 25 James Madison, the Lady Monarchs dropped its fourth game against a Top 25 opponent this season and suffered its worst CAA defeat. James Madison is just one of 16 losses ODU has suffered since joining the CAA back in the 1991-92 season. Of those 16 losses, six have come at the hands of James Madison. The 29-point loss to the Dukes was the largest CAA loss for the Lady Monarchs with their previous largest margin of defeat in conference action being a 17-point, 57-71, loss at East Carolina on February 22, 1992. Lyons and sophomore Tiffany Green led the Lady Monarchs with 10 points each. Green also hauled in a team-high eight rebounds. Old Dominion rebounded with a 69-62 victory earning its third season sweep of a CAA opponent this season. Junior T.J. Jordan led the Lady Monarchs with 19 points and classmate Megan Pym and senior Sherida Triggs hit crucial jumpers in the closing minute to help the seal the victory. Triggs joined Jordan in the double figure category with 14 points. Triggs and sophomore Tiffany Green both hauled in a team-high six boards. Sophomore Jazzmin Walters, with five assists on the week, cracked the top 10 sophomore assists leaders list. She is currently tied with Amanda Levins (1998-99) with 79 assists in her second year in the ODU uniform in the tenth spot.
ABOUT NORTHEASTERN: The Northeastern Huskies enter Thursday's contest with a 3-19 overall and 2-9 CAA mark. The Huskies have dropped their last six contests with their last win coming on January 14th in a 64-53 home victory over Drexel. Northeastern's other CAA win was 65-52 win over Towson. In non-conference action, Northeastern's lone win came with a 87-77 victory against Harvard. Both ODU and Northeastern took on current #1 Duke during the non-conference portion of their schedules. The Huskies, in their season opener, suffered a 102-49 setback to the Blue Devils. The injury plagued Huskies are led by junior guard Shaleyse Smallwood averaging 13.9 points per game. She is 11th in the league in scoring. Sophomore guard Ashlee Feldmen is averaing 13.7 points per game followed by junior guard Lucia Pabos netting 12.2 points per outing. Stefanie Hodell leads Northeastern's rebounding department hauling in an average of 8.5 rebounds per game. She is tied for fourth among her CAA peers in rebounding.
SERIES WITH NORTHEASTERN: Old Dominion and Northeastern will be meeting for the third time in school history and the second as CAA rivals. The first meeting between the Lady Monarchs and Huskies ocurred on December 4, 1985, the season following ODU's NCAA Championship. The Lady Monarchs captured a 72-58 win at the Fieldhouse. Northeastern joined the league for the 2005-06 campaign where Old Dominion captured a 87-41 win at the Constant Center. Thursday's game will mark the first trip to Solomon Court in Boston.
LAST TIME VS. NORTHEASTERN: The Old Dominion women's basketball team handed Northeastern an 87-41 loss on Super Bowl Sunday at the Ted Constant Convocation Center back on February 5, 2006. The 46-point victory was one of the largest for Old Dominion last season and biggest since the Lady Monarchs downed Virginia Commonwealth 108-46 during the 2001-02 season. Sherida Triggs, one of four Lady Monarchs in double figures, collected her third double-double of the year with 19 points and 12 rebounds. Former Lady Monarch Paula Muxiri and Shahida Williams came off the bench for 14 and 13 respectively, while senior Lawona Davis netted 10. Old Dominion outrebounded the Huskies 62-39, led by Triggs' 12. Megan Pym also reset her career-high by hauling in nine. Northeastern's leading scorer Shaleyse Smallwood, who entered the game averaging 13.9 points per game, was held to just three points. CAA Co-Player of the Week Maralene Zwarich, who the week before averaged 18.5 points and 13.0 rebounds, was held to six points and two boards. Ashlee Feldman came off the bench as the lone Husky in double figures with 14. The Lady Monarchs controlled the game from beginning to end opening the first half with an 11-2 advantage. Old Dominion owned a 48-17 edge at halftime and allowed Northeastern just seven field goals in the half and 15 total for the game.

AND WE REBOUND: The Lady Monarchs managed to puts its lone CAA loss behind them by rebounding with a 69-62 victory at Hofstra. Old Dominion kept its composure as the Pride overcame a 13-point deficit to pull within three. Junior Megan Pym and and senior Sherida Triggs made two crucial buckets late in the game to seal the victory. With 1:28 left in the game Pym's pull up jumper at the free throw line put Old Dominion up by five, but the Pride got to the hole on the trip back down the court to once again cut the ODU lead to three with 52 seconds remaining. On the next possesion, Triggs got underneath the basket and in the midst of Hofstra defenders manage to put the ball up and over the rim on a rebound to seal the win with 24 seconds left.
DISH IT TO ME: Sophomore Jazzmin Walters continues to grow in her role as the Lady Monarchs starting point guard. The second year Lady Monarch dished out eight assists, tying both her career and season-high while committing only one turnover against Virginia Commonwealth on January 25th. With four dishes against Hofstra on February 4, Walters cracked the top 10 sophomore assists leaders list. She is currently tied with Amanda Levins (1998-99) with 79 assists in her second year in the ODU uniform in the tenth spot. She needs nine more to move past Mery Andrade (1995-96) into ninth place.

ANOTHER 500 MILESTONE: Old Dominion women's basketball radio announcer will celebrate his 500th Lady Monarch broadcast when the ODU hits the court against Northeastern Thursday.
