RADIO: For the 16th-straight season ESPN Radio (1310 am - Norfolk, Va.) will be broadcasting all the Lady Monarch contests. Thirteen-time sportscaster of the Year Tony Mercurio will call all the action. Former Lady Monarch and ODU Hall of Fame inductee, Adrienne Goodson and former assistant coach Susan Montgomery will join Mercurio and add color commentary at all home games at the Ted Constant Convocation Center. A monthly fee of $6.95 through the College Pass program, which also provides the audio and video broadcasts of over 100 colleges and universities, will allow fans to listen to the broadcast online at www.odusports.com.
WHAT WILL IT TAKE FOR 500?: Head Coach Wendy Larry is rapidly approaching the 500 victory mark in her career. To date she needs one victory to reach the mark. She currently holds a 499-186 overall record in her 23rd season as a head coach. Additionally, Coach Larry just recently captured her 450th victory as the head coach at her alma mater with a 57-46 win over Delaware State on November 25. She holds a 450-155 record in her 20th season at the helm of the Old Dominion program.

ABOUT OLD DOMINION: The Lady Monarchs are still looking to give head coach Wendy Larry her 500th victory as they head into Saturday's game with Chicago State. Old Dominion is hoping to snap a two-game losing streak after picking losses at #5 Duke and Penn State last week On Sunday against the Lady Lions, Old Dominion managed to erase a 20-point second half deficit and regain the lead late in the game, but was edged out by Penn State. Behind 55-35 a minute and a half into the second half, Old Dominion would go on to outscore Penn State, 44-33, in half. Jordan led the Lady Monarchs with a season-high 24 points. It was her second 20+ point effort of the year. Juniors Tay Ransburg and Shahida Williams joined Jordan in double figures. Ransburg had 17 points 7-of-7 from the field and 2-of-2 from the line. Williams added in 17 and a game-high eight rebounds. The Lady Monarchs rebounded from its 26.0 percent shooting performance at #5 Duke to finish the night at 46.9 percent (30-of-64), including a 52.9 percent (18-of-34) second half.
ABOUT CHICAGO STATE: The Cougars enter the Ted Constant Convocation Center with a 3-5 overall record, with all three victories coming on their home court. After opening the season with losses on the road against Bradley and St. Louis, Chicago State rebounding by taking three straight from Robert Morris, Central Michigan, and Grambling State. After winning three in-a-row, the Cougars have dropped their last three outings suffering a 53-81 setback to Illinois State, a 46-73 loss at Northern Illinois, and a 34-72 defeat at Minnesota. The Cougars have two averaging double figures in senior center Chandra Timberlake (13.0 ppg) and senior forward/guard Ayesha Neasley (11.0). Sophomore forward Nicole Clark leads Chicago State in the rebounding department (8.0 rpg) followed by Timberlake (7.6 rpg).

WELCOME BACK: Chicago State is coached by former Lady Monarch Angela Jackson. Jackson was a member of the Lady Monarchs in 1989 and 1990, helping the Old Dominion women's basketball team to two second round appearances in the NCAA. As a senior in 1990, she was named First Team All-Sun Belt averaging a team second best 16.6 points per game. Additionally in 1990, Jackson led the Lady Monarchs with 4.1 assists per game (126 total) and is tied with Sharese Grant on the senior all-time assist leaders list. As a junior, she poured in 513 points to rank sixth on the junior all-time scoring leaders list.
MORE LADY MONARCH COACHING CONNECTIONS: Angela Jackson isn't the only Lady Monarch to head the Chicago State women's program. Kim McQuarter (`88) was the Cougars head coach from 1995-1998. McQuarter has been the head coach at Malcolm X Junior College since the 2000-01 season was selected by USA Basketball Women's Collegiate Committee to serve as one of the court coaches at the USA Basketball Women's Junior National Team Trials in 2004.

SO WE MEET FOR THE FIRST TIME: When you look at the Old Dominion Lady Monarch schedule, you can always count on familiar teams such as Tennessee, Rutgers, and Penn State along with various other teams they play on again and off again. Three teams grace this years schedule who the Lady Monarchs have never met. First up is Delaware State, who the Lady Monarchs handed a 57-46 loss at the Ted Constant Convocation Center. Old Dominion will also have its first meeting in school history at home against Chicago State and at Middle Tennessee State.
PUTTING THE PAST BEHIND US - ON TO THE FUTURE: Old Dominion has already put it 40-89 loss to #5 Duke behind them. The Lady Monarchs' 11 first half points tied the school record for fewest points scored in a half with the original record set back in December of 1972 with 11 second half points in a 23-12 victory over James Madison. The Lady Monarchs scored only 12 points in the first half of that game. Additionally, Old Dominion shot a low of 25.0 percent (13-of-52) from the floor, its lowest since shooting 26.0 percent (17-of-65) against Virginia in 1975. Old Dominion didn't repeat its poor performance when it came out in its next game against Penn State and shot 46.9 percent (30-of-64) against the Lady Lions.
GET THE BALL IN THE HOLE: Old Dominion hadn't been shooting particularly well in its losses, but that all changed with the Penn State game. After shooting just .300 percent in losses, Old Dominion, in coming from a 20-point second half deficit, managed to shot 46.9 percent from the floor against the Lady Lions. In victories, the Lady Monarchs shoot an average of .474 from the floor, while the opponent has been held to just .321. Meanwhile in losses, Old Dominion has been shooting just .344, from the field, while opponents are connecting on .515.
KEEP SHOOTING PARTNER: Junior guard T.J. Jordan came off the bench in the 72-92 season opening loss at Virginia to net a team-high 21 points. Shooting 6-of-19 from the field, including 6-of-17 from three-point range, the third year Lady Monarch set new career-highs in field goals and three-pointers attempted. Against Penn State, the third year Lady Monarch reset her field goal attempt high by launching 20 shots from the floor and finishing with a season-high 24 points, her second 20+ point effort of the season. The Lady Monarchs' three-point specialist, she holds the single season three-point attempt mark (2005-06 - 248).
UP NEXT: The Lady Monarchs will break for exams and will not be in action for over a week. Old Dominion will hit the road for two games traveling back to Charlotte on Sunday, December 17th and then off to Middle Tennessee State on Tuesday, December 19th. The Charlotte 49ers have won 14 straight home contests dating back to last season and will host Davidson on Saturday when the Lady Monarchs play Chicago State. The streak began right after Old Dominion beat them 79-69 back on December 18th, 2005.
