RADIO: The pre-game show and beginning portion of Wednesday's match-up will be aired live on ESPN Radio 1310. At 7:30, ESPN Radio 1310 will air the ODU men at Marist live and air the ODU women at Duke on a tape delay following the men's match-up. Thirteen-time Sportscaster of the Year Tony Mercurio will call all the action.

AUDIO: The ESPN 1310 broadcast can be heard live over the internet. ABOUT OLD DOMINION: The The Old Dominion women's basketball picked up its first two wins of the 2006-07 season last week. ODU defeated former CAA rival East Carolina, 77-66, and downed Delaware State, 57-46, in the first ever meeting between the two schools. Against the Pirates on Tuesday, the Lady Monarchs earned their first win of the season and snapped a two-game losing skid. Junior T.J. Jordan led the team in scoring for the third straight game with 16 points, connecting on 4-of-7 from the field, 3-of-6 from three-point range, and a perfect 5-of-5 from the free throw line. In a rare occurrence, East Carolina outrebounded Old Dominion. The Pirates held a 45-33 advantage on the boards, which included holding the Lady Monarchs to just seven offensive rebounds. On Saturday, Wendy Larry earned her earned her 450th win as the head coach of the Lady Monarch program and moved to within one game of collecting her 500th career win as Old Dominion with the victory over the Hornets. Junior T.J. Jordan and senior Sherida Triggs led Old Dominion with 12 points each.
WHAT WILL IT TAKE FORE 500?: Head Coach Wendy Larry is rapidly approaching the 500 victory mark in her career. To date she needs one victory to reach the mark. She currently holds a 499-184 overall record in her 23rd season as a head coach. Additionally, Coach Larry just recently captured her 450th victory as the head coach at her alma mater with a 57-46 win over Delaware State on November 25. She holds a 450-153 record in her 20th season at the helm of the Old Dominion program.

ABOUT DUKE: The Blue Devils enter Wednesday's contest with the Lady Monarchs with a 5-0 record and ranked fifth in both the Associated Press and ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll. Duke has already played two future ODU opponents in CAA rival Northeastern and the Lady Monarchs' next opponent in Penn State. The Blue Devils opened the season against the Huskies, 102-49, and downed Penn State, 70-42. After opening the season with four straight home games, Duke is coming off its first road game, a 92-47 win at Michigan. Abby Waner is one of four Blue Devils averaging double figures, leading the offense with 15.0 points per game. Following Waner is Alison Bales (11.8 ppg), Lindsey Harding (11.2), and Carrem Gay (10.0). Bridgette Mitchell leads the team on the glass (7.2 rpg). Duke enters the game having outscored their opponents by an average of 38.6 points.
SERIES WITH DUKE: The Lady Monarchs are looking for their first win over the Blue Devils since the 1996 season. Duke owns a 4-6 advantage in the all-time series having won the last three meetings, including last season's 93-56 victory as the nation's number one team in the Associated Press Poll took on the Lady Monarchs in its season opener. Old Dominion's last victory came on December 7, 1996 with an 89-77 win in the Central Fidelity Classic. In Durham, the Lady Monarch are 1-2 with the lone win in Cameron Indoor Stadium on January 21, 1989 with a 77-70 win. In Norfolk, Old Dominion is 2-2 against the Blue Devils and in neutral site match-ups, Duke owns the advantage 2-1.
LAST TIME VS. DUKE: Abby Waner scored 17 points to lead No. 1/2 Duke to a 93-56 defeat of Old Dominion on November 20, 2005 at the Ted Constant Convocation Center. For ODU, guard T.J. Jordan poured in 17 points to lead the team. The Blue Devils got off to a torrid start in the first half, opening up a 26-4 advantage in the first 8:53 minutes of the game. ODU would make a run of their own, using nine consecutive points by Jordan to cut the Duke lead to 39-20. Old Dominion would get no closer than 17 points the rest of the game. Jazzmin Walters and Paula Muxuri were bright spots for the Lady Monarchs. Walters dished out eight assists in her career debut, and Muxuri scored 12 points on 5-of-8 shooting. Tish Lyons hauled down five offensive rebounds in the losing effort. Jordan would bury two treys, the only three point shots made by the Lady Monarchs on the afternoon. Waner shot 7-of-9, and 2-of-4 from three point lead to earn her 17 points on the day. Wanisha Smith dished out a game-high 11 assists, and Monique Currie totaled 15 points and nine boards, almost notching a double-double.

RANK 'EM UP: The Blue Devils are the second ranked team the Lady Monarchs will face this season. Before the season is through, Old Dominion will match-up against four teams represented in the Preseason Associated Press and ESPN/USA Today Polls. The Lady Monarchs have already faced Kentucky, falling to a #21 (AP)/24 (ESPN/USA Today) Wildcat squad 55-69 in their home opener back on November 18th. Other teams still left on the schedule include Tennessee (Dec. 22) and Rutgers (Dec. 30). Virginia, Penn State, and Middle Tennessee have also been scene in the "receiving votes" categories in both polls. Old Dominion fell 72-92 at Virginia in the season opener and will meet Penn State on Sunday and Middle Tennessee on Dec. 19.
D-D-D-DEFENSE: In their 57-46 win over Delaware State, the Lady Monarchs held the Hornets to 29.0 percent (18-of-62) from the floor, the lowest percentage by an ODU opponent this season.
FREE POINTS: One aspect of Saturday's game against Delaware State Old Dominion would like to improve upon would be free throw shooting. The Lady Monarchs shot just 45.7 percent from the free throw line (16-of-35). Senior Sherida Triggs did manage to go perfect hitting all four free throw attempts as did freshman Jessica Canady who hit both her attempts.
WE CAN HIT THEM: Although the Lady Monarchs did not manage as well as they would like from the line last game, Old Dominion does have several good free throw shooters. Senior Tish Lyons is still perfect from the line (8-of-8) and although junior Megan Pym has only attempted two free throws so far this season, she is perfect as well (2-of-2). In all, five Lady Monarchs are shooting 86 percent or better from the charity stripe - Junior T.J. Jordan (17-of-19 - .882), senior Sherida Triggs (13-of-15 - .867), and freshman Jessica Canady (7-of-8 - .875).
UP NEXT: The Lady Monarchs travel to Penn State in a game to be televised locally by Cox Cable. While Old Dominion holds a 4-0 record when playing the Lady Lions in Norfolk, the Lady Monarchs are looking for their first win in State College since 1983. Penn State holds a 3-1 series advantage on their home court.
