KING'S POINT, NY -- The Women's sailing team had a great weekend in B division racing with freshman Katrina Williams at the helm and sophomre Elyssa Albert as crew. However, A division nor the co-ed boats at Brown University had near as successful races as Old Dominion came up short at the Atlantic Coast Championships.

The women's team coming off a bid to the national title race last season was anchored by the B division boat of Williams and Albert. The underclassmen raced to four wins and 12 top five finishes in the 17 heats raced over the weekend. The B division boat (89 points) came in 4th out of the 17 best sailing teams on the east coast.

Unfortunately for the Monarchs, the A division boat skippered by senior Cara DiSanti and crewed by sophomore Alissa Ayres was unable to match the success of the B division boat. DiSanti and Ayres finished strong with four top ten finishes in the last five races. It wasn't enough however, as the A division tallied 206 points for the weekend and dropped ODU to 9th overall.

PROVIDENCE, RI -- The co-ed dinghy team had only 9 races due to poor weather on Sunday and were unable to attempt a second day comeback. Junior Bobby Noonan and freshman Wilson Stout raced all nine for the A division boat and earned three top five finishes.

In B division racing, four Monarchs had a chance to try and cut the lead but were unable. In the first four races, senior Wade Schon and junior Jaci Finney were in the boat and unable to finish out of the bottom four. Finishing out the final five races were junior Michael Collins and senior Ryan Kozoriz with limited success including just one top 10 finish.

ODU's B division finished in last with 138 points. Noonan and Stout were just four points out of the top ten finishing with 94 and a 12th place showing.

ODU's fall season comes to a close with a great deal of anticipation for success in the spring including what should be a very exciting team racing season for the Monarchs.
