NORFOLK, Va. -- The Old Dominion field team is seeded third at the 2006 NCAA Field Hockey Tournament and will travel to Princeton, N.J. for the first and seconds rounds of the tournament.
The Lady Monarchs (19-3) will take on host Princeton (11-6) on Saturday, November 11th at 11:00 p.m. and should they advance they will play the winner of UConn (19-3)/Boston University (14-6) on Sunday, November 12th for a berth at the Final Four.
Wake Forest, Duke, and Maryland are the other host sites for the first and second rounds of the tournament. Wake Forest, the bracket's number one seed, will host American with Virginia facing Iowa in the other first round match-up. Duke hosts James Madison while Ohio State and California square off in the other first round contest in Durham. Maryland hosts Richmond and will see Penn State take on North Carolina in other first round action.
The winners of the second round will advance to this year's final four to be held at Kenter Stadium on the campus of Wake Forest in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
Old Dominion has already faced Princeton this year. The Lady Monarchs posted a 5-0 victory back on September 23rd. Overall, Old Dominion is 9-3 against the field of 16 who reached the tournament.
The Lady Monarchs are making their 26th appearance at the NCAA Tournament and are the only division I team to reach every single tournament since the tournament's inception back in 1981. Old Dominion has made 16 final four appearance with its most recent appearance last season.
