Field Hockey Still In Third In STX/NFHCA Poll And Second In Women's Field Hockey.Com Poll

NORFOLK, Va. -- The Old Dominion field hockey team remained in third place for the fifth week in a row in the STX/National Field Hockey Coaches' Association (NFHCA) Poll and second in the Women's Field Hockey.Com Poll for a second straight week. The Lady Monarchs garnered one first place vote.

In the STX/NFHCA Poll, undefeated Maryland still holds on to first place followed by Wake Forest. A trio of ACC schools follow Old Dominion with Boston College in fourth, Duke in fifth, and North Carolina in sixth.

Two other CAA schools appear in the STX/NFHCA top 20 with James Madison sliding down a notch to No. 18 and William & Mary improving a spot to No. 17.

In the Women's Field Hockey.Com Poll, Maryland once again takes the top spot with Wake Forest at No. 3, Boston College at No. 4, and Virginia at No. 5. William & Mary appears at No. 14, James Madison at No. 16, and Hofstra at No. 18.

In the national stats, senior midfielder Dana Sensenig (Denver, Pa.) is tied for 15th in points per game (2.33) and 16th in goals per game (0.92). Redshirt freshman netminder Kelly Driscoll (West Chester, Pa.) meanwhile is second in the nation in goals against average (0.73) and tied for 14th in save percentage (.780).

In the conference stats, Sensenig leads the CAA in points (29), points per game (2.33), goals (11), and goals per game (0.92), and is tied for third in assists (6) and fifth in assists per game (0.50). Sophomore midfielder Denise Admiraal (Heiloo, Holland) is eighth in points 15, 10th in points per game (1.25), tied for third in goals (7), sixth in goals per game (0.58). Sophomore Katelyn Smither (Suffolk, Va.) is tied for 10th in total assists (4). Driscoll tops the charts in goals against average (0.73) and is third in save percentage (.780).

The Lady Monarchs return to action in their final road trip of the regular season before returning home to close the regular season with six straight home matches. Old Dominion travels to Richmond, Virginia to meet Virginia Commonwealth University at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, October 6th and to Newark, Delaware on Sunday, October 8th for a 1:00 p.m. meeting with the University of Delaware.
