NORFOLK, Va. -- Sophomore midfielder Nico van Nispen (Bilthoven, Holland) was named the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Player of the Week after collecting seven points off three goals and an assists in the Lady Monarchs' 2-0 week.
Van Nispen registered both game-winners against #17 James Madison and Towson as Old Dominion posted its eighth straight victory and fourth straight shutout. On Friday night, the sophomore midfielder tallied the lone goal in the James Madison victory connecting on a penalty corner with just over seven minutes in the game. On Sunday, van Nispen was one of four different Lady Monarch goal scorers and one of two multiple goal scorers. She posted the game's first goal and game-winner just under seven minutes into the contest and later added a second just over 12 minutes into the game.
To date, van Nispen is ODU's third leading scorer with five goals, two assists, and 12 points.
The Lady Monarchs return to action next week at Virginia Commonwealth and Delaware. It will be the final road trip of the regular season as the Lady Monarchs return home for six straight contests to close out the regular season.
