Field Hockey Remains Ranked Third In STX/NFHCA Poll; Moves Up To Second In Women's Field Hockey.Com Poll

NORFOLK, Va. -- The Old Dominion field hockey team remained in third in the STX/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Poll and moved into second in the Women's Field Hockey.Com Poll this week after the Lady Monarchs captured wins over Princeton and Drexel.

In the STX/NFHCA Poll, Maryland remains in first place place, still undefeated and receiving all but one first place vote. Wake Forest, who suffered their only loss at the hands of Maryland over the week, was in second with one first place vote. Rounding out the top five is Duke, ranked fourth, and Ohio State in fifth.

Other upcoming ODU opponents featured in the poll are #6 North Carolina, #17 James Madison, and #18 William & Mary. Hofstra, Delaware, and Towson were other CAA schools receiving votes.

In the Women's Field Hockey.Com Poll, Maryland also took the top spot with Wake Forest at No. 3, Duke at No. 4, and Boston College at No. 5.

In the national stats, senior midfielder Dana Sensenig (Denver, Pa.) is ranked 13th in goals per game (2.4) and 14th in points per game (1.0). Last weekend ODU's leading scorer tallied three goals and an assist. Redshirt netminder Kelly Driscoll (West Chester, Pa.) meanwhile is ranked third in goals against average (0.87) thanks to two shutouts last week against Princeton and Drexel. She is also 23rd in save percentage (.769).

In the CAA stats, Sensenig claims the top spot in points (24), points per game (2.4), goals (10), and goals per game (1.0). She is also tied for eighth in assists (4) and tied for 10th in assists per game (0.40). Two-time CAA Player of the Week and Women's Field Hockey.com Honor Roll member Caroline Nichols (Va. Beach, Va.) is tied for second in game-winning goals with three. Driscoll meanwhile leads all goalkeepers in the league with four shutouts and tops the list in goals against average (0.87). She also ranks fourth in save percentage (.769).

The Lady Monarchs continue Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) action this week when they travel to #17 James Madison on Friday and return home to host Towson on Sunday.
