GREELEY, CO--Sophomore midfielder Shavon Knight (Waldorf, MD.) scoredtwo goals to lead the Lady Monarchs (5-0) of Old Dominion University to a 3-0 victory over Northern Colorado(2-1) Friday night.
Knight's first goal came 29 minutes into the match on an assist from Katie Watson (Woodbridge, VA.). Freshman Chika Umejei (Virginia Beach, Va.-Bayside HS)scored her first collegiate goal three minutes into the second half on an assist from LisaMcKenzie (Inverness, Scotland). Knight completed the scoring with 27 minutes left onan assist from Elizabeth Brewster (Clifton, VA.).
Knight now takes the team lead away from Katie Watson. Knight has eight goalsand two assists for 18 points, while Watson has seven goals with two assists for 16 points. ODU outshot Northern Colorado, 24-6 as sophomore Lauren Tupman (VirginiaBeach, Va. -Kellam HS) picked up her second straight shutout and fourth overall.
ODU visits Wyoming Sunday for a 1 p.m.(et) match in Laramie, WY.
