UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The fourth ranked Old Dominion field hockey team improved to 2-0 on the young season as junior Sami McLenegan (Middletown, Pa.) posted her first career game-winner in Sunday's 6-1 victory over Ohio University in a neutral site game on the campus of Penn State.

McLenegan was one of two Lady Monarch multiple scorers joining senior Dana Sensenig (Denver, Pa.) with two tallies.

McLenegan gave Old Dominion a 2-0 lead in the first half. Her first goal came at the 10:17 mark as she tipped in a shot that came from the stick of teammate Shannon Mobley (Va. Beach, Va.). Her second goal, the game-winner, came at the 27:22 mark as freshman Katie Ueberroth (Stevens, Pa.) drew out the Ohio keeper and passed the ball to McLenegan for a shot on an unprotected net.

The second half saw the Lady Monarch scoring barrage continue. Sensenig captured the second half's first goal by converting a penalty stroke at the 43:50 mark and then moments later recorded her second goal of the afternoon for a 4-0 ODU lead.

Sensenig would go on to record an assist on the next ODU goal. Senior Anna Rogers (New Bloomfield,Pa.) netted her first goal of the 2006 campaign as she took Sensenig's pass from the left side of the endline.

Ueberroth rounded out the ODU scoring for the afternoon redirectng a shot taken by sophomore Katelyn Smither (Suffolk, Va.) from outside the circle.

The Bobcats avoided the shutout when they were finally able toconvert on a breakaway opportunity at the 64:10 mark. Patty Donohue capitalized on ODU netminder Kelly Driscoll (West Chester, Pa.) coming out of the cage to stop an on coming Ohio attacker who passed the ball to give Donohue the scoring opportunity.

Old Dominion outshot Ohio 22-4 limiting the Bobcats to two shots in each half. Additionally, the Lady Monarchs held an 8-1 advantage in penalty corners.

Driscoll stopped one of only two shots on goal made by the Bobcats, while Ohio's Jessie Martin made eight saves in the loss.

The Lady Monarchs continue on the road next weekend. Old Dominion meets defending national champion and No. 1 Maryland on Saturday in a rematch of the 2005 NCAA semifinals on Saturday, September 2nd, in College Park, Maryland. The weekend continues as the Lady Monarchs travel to Charlottesville to take on No. 19 Virginia on Sunday, September 3rd.
