NORFOLK, VA-- Four Baseball Monarchs, Jimmy Miles (OF Orlando, FL.), Tyler Belcher( C, Bristol, VA.), David Wagner (LHP, Johnstown, PA.) and Chris Keenan (2b, Chesapeake, Va.) earned Summer League All-Star honors.

Jimmy Miles, a rising senior stole 41 of 50 bases for the PeninsulaPilots. He hit .264 with seven doubles and was named the the CoastalPlains League All-Star squad. During the regular season, Miles earnedAll-CAA and All-Region honors. Peninsula was 34-20 and best in theNorth.

Tyler Belcher hit .302 with six doubles, six stolen bases and earnedValley League All-Star honors for the Winchester Royals.

David Wagner was also selected to the Valley League All-Star team withtwo wins and a 4.74 ERA.

Chris Keenan hit .277 with eight doubles and ten of 14 stolen bases forthe Florence Redwolves to earn Coastal Plain League All-Star honors.Florence was 32-18 and second in the Southern Division.

Other returning Monarchs who enjoyed solid summers were firstbasemanBryan Cipolla (Plainview, NY.) who hit .280 with 20 RBI, seven doublesand a .980 fielding percentage for the Peninsula Pilots

Rising sophomore Anthony Shawler (Chespeake, VA.) hit .327 with 13 RBI and three doubles. On the mound he had a 3.07 ERA with 41 strikeouts in 29.1 innings for Peninsula.

Matt Walls (Falls Church, VA.), a rising sophomore lefthander postedfour wins with a 1.92 ERA in 49 innings of work for the Danville Cougars.

Cameron Scott (Culpepper, VA.) played for the Clark Griffith Champion Herndon Braves. Brooks Sinnen (Virginia Beach, VA.) played for the Outerbanks Daredevils who placed fourth in the Coastal Plains Northern Division.

MONARCH NEWCOMERSChris Buss, a shortstop transfer from East Carolina hit .242 with 11 RBIand five doubles.

Pitcher Dexter Carter from Louisburg Junior College won four games andposted a 3.36 ERA with 37 strikeouts in 46.2 innings of work for leagueChampion Peninsula.

Ryan Bergh a pitcher from Pensacola Junior College compiled a 4.75 ERAwith 36 strikeouts in 34 innings of work for Front Royal of the ValleyLeague.

David Burns from Lake Sumter JC hit .294 with 12 RBI and six doublesfor Dubois Bombers of the Central Ilinois Collegiate League.
