WILMINGTON, NC--The Monarchs open a three-game CAA series at UNC Wilmington Friday night at 7 p.m. in Brooks Field. ODU is 37-10 overall and19-5 in the CAA, while the Seahawks are 34-16 overall and 14-10 in the CAA.
UNCW is led by John Raynor with a .394 batting average and ranks second instolen bases with 34 in 38 attempts. Raynor also has ten homers. Chris Hatcheris hitting .359 with 44 RBI, Jonathan Batts is at .343 with 12 homers and 50 RBI andMatt Poulk is hitting .331 with 11 homers. UNCW is averaging over nine runsper game.
On the mound, the Seahawks are led by Thomas Benton with a 7-5 record and a 3.30ERA, followed by Brett Braxton at 6-1 with a 3.38 ERA.
Jimmy Miles still leads ODU with a .367 batting average along with a leagueleading 38 stolen bases. Dana Arrowood, the CAA's Player of the Week is at .366 with a team leading 43 RBI along with five homers. Mike Zahm is at .332 and BryanCipolla is at .330 with 41 RBI. Patrick Nichols continues to lead ODU with 13 homers.
On the mound, ODU has the best ERA at 3.45, led by Arrowood at 4-1, a 2.53ERA and seven saves. Freshman Dan Hudson is 7-1 with a 2.57 ERA, followedby Kevin Gunter at 6-3 and a 3.16 ERA. Jason Godin leads the CAA in strikeoutswith 122 in 92 innings (Verlander fanned 151 in 105 in 2004). He is 8-2 with a 3.82 ERA.
