No. 20 ODU Defeats Crosstown Rival NSU, 8-2

NORFOLK, VA-- Senior Dana Arrowood had three hits and two runs batted in to lead #20/21Old Dominion (34-6) to an 8-2 victory over Norfolk State (18-21) Wednesday night at MartyMiller Field.

Arrowood singled in Mike Zahm in the first and doubled home Bryan Cipolla in the eighth.Jimmy Miles and Bryan Cipolla each had two hits on the evening, and Keith Hahn scoredthree times.

Hahn scored in the fourth on Miles double, he then scored in the fifth on a wild pitch and in theseventh came home on Stephen Dorst's single.

Senior lefthander Bryan Hansen picked up the win. He scattered five hits with two walks andseven strikeouts. Freshman Anthony Shawler pitched the the last three-plus innings withfive strikeouts and and one run allowed.

NSU scored in the sixth as pinch hitter Christopher Dorney walked with the bases loadedto bring home Jose Torres. In the eighth pinchhitter Carlos DeJesus singled home MoribaGeorge.

The Monarchs return to CAA action this weekend at the University of Delaware. Friday'sgame begins at 3 p.m.at Hannah Stadium.
