NORFOLK, VA--Mike Zahm's(Omaha, NE.) one-out single in the bottom of the tenth inning lifted the Monarchs of Old Dominion (32-5/15-1), ranked 15th by BASEBALL AMERICA & 17th by COLLEGIATE BASEBALL to a 3-2 come-from-behind victory over the Huskies of Northeastern (14-13/8-5) Friday night.

Northeastern's ace Adam Ottavino, who threw a no-hitter at JMU last week wentnine innings, fanning 13, walking two and allowing just five hits, while ODU's starterKevin Gunter (Richland, NJ.) went seven-plus with five strikeouts and one run allowed.

After a scoreless six-plus innings, ODU scored first in the bottom of the seventh.Bryan Cipolla (Plainview, NY) led off with a single and scored on Patrick Nichols (Chesapeake, VA.) double. Northeastern came right back in the top of the eighth. Brian Nutting led off with a double, then scored on a RBI groundout by Chris Emanuele.

In the tenth, the Huskies took the lead when Jeff Maher led off with a single, andwas sacrificed to second. He then moved to third on a groundout and scored on ChrisEmanuele's single to rightfield.

In the bottom of the tenth Patrick Nichols led off with a walk. Brooks Sinnenpinch ran for him and moved to second on Keith Hahn's (Valley Stream, NY.) sacrifice bunt. Jesse Schoendienst (Belcamp, MD.) was hit with a pitch. Northeastern then brought in Matt Morizio to pitch for reliever Trevor Smith. Jimmy Miles(Orlando, FL.) reached on an error to load the bases and Chris Keenan (Chesapeake, VA.) walked to plate Sinnen with the tying run. Zahm then singled to deep right field to end the game. Dana Arrowood (Woodbridge, VA.) picked up the win in relief. The two teams play game two Saturday at 5 p.m.
