NORFOLK, VA-- Senior righthander Kevin Gunter (Richland, NJ.) tossed a complete game three-hitter, fanning a career high 11 batters as Old Dominion (15-3/1-0) defeated George Mason (7-8/2-2) Friday night, 4-0 at the Bud Metheny Baseball Complex.

Neither Gunter or George Mason pitcher Eric Gibbons issued a walk andboth went the distance in a game that lasted only 1:36. That is a new ODU record forthe quickest nine inning game played. The previous was 1:40 against VCU onMay 13, 1973.

Jimmy Miles (Orlando, FL.) put ODU on the board first when he stole third and came home on the throwing error in the first inning. In the fourth, Justin Gregula (Washington, PA.) hit a solo homer to center, then with one out, Patrick Nichols (Chesapeake, VA.) slammed his team leading sixth homer of the season to leftcenter.

ODU's final run came in the sixth as Chris Keenan (Chesapeake, VA.)singled home Nichols. Nichols led ODU with three hits on the night while Jimmy MilesStole three bases to give him14 on the season.
