TOWSON, Md. (AP) - Isaiah Hunter scored a season-high 22 points, making 9 of 16 shots from the floor, to lead Old Dominion University to an 85-71 victory over Towson on Thursday night.
Hunter made four of eight three-point attempts and had four assists. Alex Loughton hit 8 of 10 shots from the field as he scored 21 points, and Valdas Vasylius contributed 12 points and grabbed a team-high nine rebounds. Arnaud Dahi came off the bench to add 12 points.
The Monarchs (10-4, 3-1 Colonial Athletic Association) finished the game with a 52.5 shooting percentage from the floor.
Gary Neal led the Tigers (5-7, 1-2) by scoring 25 points, made 10 of 22 shots from the floor and had two steals.
Dennard Abraham helped the Tigers outrebound the Monarchs by a 41-34 as he scored 11 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.
ODU forced the Tigers into 19 turnovers with the help of 13 steals.Drew Williamson (Burlington, NC.), a member of the 2005 CAAAll-defensive squad came up with four steals to go along with sixassists.
ODU bolted out to a 34-14 lead with 9:16 left in the first half. Towsoncame back on the shooting of Gary Neal to cut the lead to seven, 38-31 with 3:52 left in the half. ODU finished the half with a 12-0 run asAlex Loughton, the 2005 CAA player of the year scored four as didVasylius along with two free throws by Arnaud Dahi and Brandon Johnson.
In the second half, ODU led by as many as 25, 83-58 with 5:00 left.
The Monarchs return to action on Saturday when they host CAA newcomerNortheastern at 12 noon in the Constant Center.
