NORFOLK, VA--The 19th ranked Old Dominion University Soccer Monarchs ran their record to 3-0-1 on the season after defeating the Elon Phoenix 4-3 Wednesday night at the ODU Soccer Stadium. Brian Cvilikas (Highland Ranch, CO) notched two goals for the Monarchs on the evening. With the victory, ODU extended their home regular season unbeaten streak to 27 games. ODU is currently ranked 19th by College Soccer News, 22nd by the NSCAA coaches poll and 25th by Soccer America.

Freshman Trevor Banks (Madison, WI) scored the first Monarch goal in the 51st minute after CAA Co-Rookie of the Week Yomby William (Bafoussam, Cameroon) collected a deflected free kick and crossed it to an open Banks in the box. Cvilikas scored his first goal by heading in a free kick sent by A.J. Kulp (Ephrata, PA) in the 57th minute. Ado Fazlic (Richmond, VA) scored on a penalty kick in the 67th minute to give the Monarchs a 3-0 lead. Kiki Willis would get Elon on the board with a goal in the 74th minute off an assist from Matt Bengston. Cvilikas would score his second goal after receiving a through ball from Bobby Foglesong (Fredericksburg, VA) to give the Monarchs a three-goal cushion. Eric Sass and Bengston would net late goals for Elon to make the final score 4-3.

Old Dominion travels to #2 North Carolina Sunday at 2:00 p.m. followed by an intrastate showdown with #4 Virginia Wednesday night at the ODU Soccer Stadium. Game time is slated for 7:00 p.m.
