Wisconsin Edges ODU, 84-81 in Paradise Jam Championship

ST. THOMAS, VI--The University of Wisconsin(3-0) defeated theMonarchs of Old Dominion (2-1), 84-81 in the championship game of theParadise Jam Tournament Monday night. Arnaud Dahi led the Monarchswith a career high 25 points, followed by Alex Loughton with 22.

Marcus Landry hit four free throws and Kamron Taylor hit a trey andtwo free throws in the final 40 seconds to seal the victory for the Badgers.

ODU led at halftime 36-32 and by as much as seven, 55-48 with 11:57remaining. Wisconsin rallied and tied the game at 57 wit 9:25 left on a basketby Marcus Landry. ODU's last lead was 62-61 with 8:04 left on two freethrows by Valdas Vasylius. The Monarchs had a chance to go ahead with2:18 left and Wisconsin leading, 74-73. After Kamron Taylor missed a shotBrandon Johnson's bank shot rimmed out on the other in.

Four Monarchs scored in doubled figures. Besides Dahi and Loughton,Vasylius scored 13 and Drew Williamson added 11 points with six assists.

The game had 16 lead changes and nine ties. The crowd of 3,137was a championship game record in the six year event. ODU's Alex Loughtonwas named to the All-Tournament squad.

Both teams shot 45 percent from the floor, but Wisconsin outreboundedODU, 40-29. Arnaud Dahi and Alex Loughton led ODU with six reboundseach. Kammron Taylor led Wisconsin with eight rebounds and Greg Stiemsmaadded seven.

ODU returns to Norfolk to play its first home game of the season onSaturday night against Mount Saint Mary's at 7 p.m. in the Ted ConstantConvocation Center.
