NORFOLK, Va. -- Find out at 7:45 p.m. tonight where the Old Dominion Lady Monarch field hockey team begins its 2005 NCAA Tournament run as the live selection show will be broadcast on www.NCAAsports.com and on CSTV (DirecTV channel 610).
The Lady Monarchs are heading to their 25th NCAA Tournament and are the only team to make an appearance in each tournament since its inception in 1981. Old Dominion earned the Colonial Athletic Association's (CAA) bid to become on of the 16 teams invited to the tournament. The Lady Monarchs won their 13th CAA title on Sunday with a 3-0 shutout over Northeastern.
Also on Tuesday, the National Field Hockey Coaches Association released its final poll of the 2005 season. After CAA Championship wins over William & Mary and Northeastern, the Lady Monarchs moved up a spot on the list to No. 3. Old Dominion will enter the NCAA Tournament with a 17-5 record having four wins over team ranked in the Top Eight of the final poll.
