NORFOLK, VA - Laura Beeman (Chalfont, PA) and Janna Pearson (Haymarket, VA) score two goals each to lift Old Dominion to a 4-0 shutout victory over Drexel Sunday afternoon. ODU improves to 10-2-0, 4-1-0 in the CAA, their best record in the history of the program, while Drexel drops to 5-6-1, 1-4 in the CAA.
Pearson connected with her first goal in the 27th minute of the first half off a pass from Melissa Futrell (Virginia Beach, VA) to give ODU a 1-0 lead heading into overtime. Laura Beeman scored two minutes into the second half with Katie Watson (Woodbridge, VA) getting an assist. Beeman then assisted Pearson's next goal at 74:16. The final goal came at 84:06 when Beeman shook a Drexel defender in the box and found the back of the net after accepting a flicked pass from Lisa McKenzie (Inverness, Scotland). The Lady Monarchs had a 30-5 shot advantage, and a 7-2 corner kick edge.
Drexel goalkeeper Kaitlin Bond made ten saves in today's game.
The Lady Monarchs travel to Boston, Massachusetts, Friday, October 14 as they take on CAA newcomer Northeastern.
