FLORENCE, SC - The Old Dominion University men's golfers posted the low team round today with an even par- 288 to finish fifth at the 21st annual Raines Intercollegiate. Freshman Matthew Watson (CHesapeake, Va.) and junior Greg Sampson(Warren, RI.) each finished with a 217 to tie for 21st. Senior Nick Kenney (Toronto, Canada) finished with a 218 to place 22nd.
USC Aiken fired a final round, three-over par 291 to win the tournament at 15-under par 849, to set a new tournament record. Jamie Kennedy of Jacksonville and Matt Cook of Western Carolina tied for first place in the individual standings (209) with final-round scores of 69 and 70 respectively. Cook garnered medalist honors by virtue of tournament tiebreaker rules. ODU returns to action on Oct. 3 at the Joe Agee Invitational in Williamsburg, Va.
